Beacon City Council Minutes

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018

 7:00 p.m.

Call to Order- Mayor Jim Hughes called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. City Council members present: Cecil Smith, Dwight Teeter, Ron Kauffman, and Danny Fetters. Council members absent: Richard Thomas.

General Business

  1. Review Minutes from June 5th, 2018 Meeting
  2. Treasurer’s Report-
  3. Claims Report-

Motion made to approve the consent agenda made by Dwight Teeter, seconded by Ron Kauffman. All members voted in favor, motion approved.

Old Business

  1. Hall Rentals- 3 in the month of June
  2. Clean-up & Animal Control
  3. No report from the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter
  4. Motion made by Ron Kauffman to purchase new shock absorbers for City Hall screen door and to purchase numbers to display our address on the City Hall, seconded by Dwight. All members voted in favor, motion approved.
  5. Committee Reports- Ditch by Jim Hughes and Kyle Thomas is starting to wash out. Council members discussed compacting clay in the ditch.
  6. City Code Codification- 2nd reading held on the contract for codification services to be performed by Sterling codifiers. Motion to approve contract and accept bid made by Ron Kauffman, seconded by Dwight Teeter. All members voted in favor, motion approved. Motion to waive the 3rd reading made by Danny Fetters, seconded by Ron Kaufman. All members voted in favor, motion approved.
  7. Storm Siren- Motion to approve first reading of Resolution 07-03-18 made by Dwight Teeter, seconded by Danny Fetters. All members voted in favor, motion approved.

New Business

  1. Nuisance/Abandoned Property Abatement- Letter will be sent to owner of 412 Reid St for violation of mowing ordinance.
  2. Ash tree in park-Received bid from Breman & Sons Tree Service for $565 for the removal of an ash tree and clean up, along with stump removal and clean up. Motion to approve made by Dwight Teeter, seconded by Ron Kauffman. All members voted in favor, motion approved.

Adjournment- Motion to adjourn made by Danny Fetters, seconded by Ron Kauffman. All members voted in favor, motion approved. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
