Beacon City Council Minutes

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

7:00 p.m.

 

 

Call to Order-Mayor Jim Hughes called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

 

 

General Business

 

 

  1.  Review Minutes from August 5th Meeting-
  2.   Claims Report-
  3.   Water Reports –
  4.   Sheriff’s Report-. Motion to approve Consent Agenda made by Richard Thomas, seconded by Darrel Rust.  Motion approved.
  5.    Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter- One report of a dog bite, dog quarantined.
  6.   Sewer Report –
  7.   Treasurer’s Report –

Old Business:

A.  Hall Rentals- 5 rentals in August, one scheduled for September.

B.  Street Signs-Jill will call Reid Stevens and find out how to proceed.  C.  Nieusbaum Project/Shane-No new discussion.  Will start in October.

D.   Hazard Mitigation Discussion-No new discussion. 

 

E.  City Street Financial Report-2nd reading of Street Financial Report.  Motion to approve made by Richard Thomas, seconded by Darrel Rust.  Motion approved.  Motion to waive 3rd reading made by Cecil Smith, seconded by Ron Kauffman.  Motion approved.

F.  Ditch Cleaning-Jim talked to Kyle DenHartog and he said he would pay for the culvert, but it needs to be replaced.  Culvert needs to be replaced by Jared Thomas residence also.

G.  Clean-up & Animal Control- Council spoke about imposing a fine to property owner for not cleaning up yard.  The property owner has been sent several letters.  Council suggested calling the City Attorney to see what our next step is.  Jill will call the City Attorney.

 

New Business

 

 

A. Mowing-Richard will talk to Century Lawn to see if they can mow on Thursdays instead of Mondays.  This way the grass looks nice for people who rent the hall.

 

B.  Printer for City Hall-Council discussed buying a printer for City Hall.  Motion to approve purchase of   printer by Dwight Teeter, seconded by Cecil Smith.  Motion approved.

 

Business from the Floor

 

  1. Trees in park-Before winter Council needs to trim bushes and trees.  Jim will talk to Jen Maxwell to see if she would help.
